Blemishes are a condition characterized by tan like skin pigmentation on face having uneven, patchy distribution. Chloasma (pigmentation of cheeks) may be triggered by pregnancy, oral contraceptives or hormonal imbalances. Other factors are sun damage, certain ingredients found in deodorants, toiletry and personal care products, due to local sensitization of melanocytes.
SKIN CARE:
- Keep skin moisturized.
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
- Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day.
- Drink tomato juice with some mint and lemon juice.
- Drink herbal teas- green tea.
- Take vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E supplements to maintain healthy skin.
- Use SPF lotion everyday to protect from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
- Reduce intake of over processed foods as well as bleached flour and sugars.
- Participate in physical activities.
- Choose cosmetic products that are non comedogenic or non acnegenic. Remove cosmetics every night with soap and water. Shield your face when applying hairsprays and gels.
HOME REMEDIES
- Powdered orange peel + curd apply for 15 min.- WEEK 1
- Wheat flour + curd + tomato, paste apply for 20 min. – WEEK 2
- Put pieces of sliced potato on skin or grated potato on the pigmented area for 20 min. – WEEK 3
- Apply mashed papaya on face for 20 min.- WEEK 4
- Appy mashed banana on face for 20 min.— WEEK 5
- For dark eye circles apply paste made from 1/2 teaspoon of tomato juice,2-3 drops of lemon juice, pinch of turmeric, and gram flour.- WEEK 6
Note- Before applying any face pack – do a skin test by putting the mixture on a small spot on inside of your forearm. Wait for 10 min. In case it burns or itches or turns reddish – you might be allergic to the face pack. Do not put it on face.
