FOOD ITEMS NOT PERMITTED:
- Sugar: sugar, gur, mithai, chocolate, pastry, ice cream
- Sweet fruits: Apple, banana, cheeku, mango, grapes,leechi, pear sweet, custard apple
- veg: potato, arbi, sweet potato,
- OILS: desi ghee, coconut oil, butter, cream, khoya, paneer,
- NON VEG: Egg yolk , keema, liver, mutton
- Avoid: maida, rice
TIPS TO PREVENT HYPOGLYCEMIA:
- Snack on nuts and seeds like almonds, chana, peanuts, pistachios, walnuts etc,
- Eat frequent meals containing adequate amount of proteins eg: breakfast of whole wheat bread and eggs is better than bread with jams
- Avoid refined foods like maida and sugar. Like soft drinks, chocolates, fruit juices, canned fruits, sherbets.
- Avoid alcohol
- Increase fiber in your diet: wheat bran, brown rice, jowar bajra, whole wheat bread, raw salads.
- Eat sprouts everyday.
- Have B complex vitamin everyday
- Minerals like chromium, magnesium and zinc increase utilization of insulin.
- Exercise, 20 min of walking, jogging, swimming, aerobics 3-4 times a day will improve insulin resistance.
