DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TREATING PCOS

  • Eat whole grains – whole wheat flour, oats, Bajra, Ragi, Jowar
  • Fresh curd, paneer, sprouts, idli ( fermented , not instant) is priceless for ovaries and it is abundant in Vit B12.
  • Eat raw fruits and vegetables. Make sure seasonal fruit is a consumed once a day. Eating salad with meals is a must. Avoid drinking fruit juices. Also avoid high glycemic index fruits like Mango, banana, litchi. Fruit with a low GI value include: cherries, plums, grapefruit, apples, pears, apples, dried apricots, grapes, coconut, coconut milk, kiwi fruit, orange juice, prunes.
  • Eat green leafy vegetables. Avoid high glycemic veggies like – Potato, arbi, lotus stem.
  • Healthy fats found in nuts and seeds, oily fish, avocado, flaxseeds, Sunflower seeds, olive oil are to be incorporated into your diet.
  • Avoid soya and soya products. Soy has been implicated in delayed ovulation.
  • Cut down bad fats found in red meat, processed meats, instant food packets and deep fried things.

Diet in dandruff

  • Avoid junk food, cold drinks, sugar rich food like- cakes, biscuits, refined foods and consume whole grain products like whole wheat bread, roti , oats, mueseli
  • Eat fresh fruits and raw vegetables in salad everyday.
  • Drink at least 9-10 glasses of water per day.

Home Remedy

  • Rub a slice of lemon on your scalp, for 10 days before washing hair.
  • Methi seeds powder( 2 tsp) , soaked in water( ½ katori) overnight and apply to scalp every morning, wash after ½ an hour.
  • Rinse your hair with handful of neem leaves or neem powder boiled in water.
  • Washing hair with fermented curd , also helps to get rid of Dandruff.

Hair care

  • Do not use oil on scalp.
  • Use hair serum or conditioner on the hair , but do not apply these on hair roots
  • Do not wash your scalp with hot water, use lukewarm water to rinse the scalp.

DIETRY TIPS FOR CONTROLLING AND TREATING DIABETES

  • Artificial sweetener: put them only when tea or milk has been cooled, do not use it in boiling milk/tea. Can use 2-3 tablets per day. One should limit their intake, as prolonged use of artificial sweetener leads to bad taste in mouth, headache and nausea. Stevia is a natural artificial sweetener and can be use safely.
  • FRUITS: Jamun, amla, lemon, orange, tomatoes, papaya, pear, guava, strawberry, figs, mausambi, singhara. Daily 100 gms of fruit can be taken as a meal not with main meal.
  • VEGETABLES: Methi, palak, karela, bathua, saag, sitaphal, kakdi, tori, tinda, green pepper, bhindi, turnip, kheera, chana, soya, carrots, garlic, tomatoes, lettuce.
  • FIBER: Brown rice, whole dal, bran, soybean, chana, rajma, lobia, sprouts, brown bread, oats, Dalia.
  • JUICE: Karela, carrots, palak, lauki, turnip, cauliflower,
  • Non veg: tandoori or boiled chicken/ fish, eggs
  • OILS: Flaxseeds, soybean, Mustard, sunflower, total oil: 3-4 teaspoon. For good fats one can eat handful of groundnuts.
  • MILK: low fat milk, paneer, curd
