It is a joint disorder in which uric acid crystals deposit in the joint space giving rise to severe pain swelling and redness of the joint.
DO’S
- Drink 9-10 glasses of water.
- Herbal teas: peppermint tea is good for uric acid.
- Take vitamin C daily, it helps to dissolve uric acid.
- Cherries (200 gms a day) and strawberries are helpful in dissolving uric acid.
- When there is attack, apply and ice pack over the area at regular intervals, holding for 3-5 minutes.
- Vegetable juice: Beetroot+ carrots+ ginger is very good for treating gout.
- Carrot+ lauki Juice is good for lowering uric acid.
- Apple: Patient is advised to take one apple after each meal.
- Go for roti made of jowar and bajra, the alkaline nature of these grains prevents the attack of gout.
- Snack on almonds and walnuts. It helps to improve the circulation around the joints.
- Take supplements of vitamin B, E and folic acid and selenium.
- Essential fatty acids from flaxseeds and evening primrose oil help to fight inflammation.
