CHOLESTROL LOWERING DIET

Do’s

  • Switch to Olive oil. It is high in both mono and poly unsaturated fatty acids. Contains antioxidants and polyphenols that are good for heart. For Indian cooking you can use pomace oil and for salads- extra virgin oil .
  • Black olives are one of nature’s artery protectors. The monosaturated oil they contain helps to lower the bad cholesterol without lowering the protective HDL type
  • Intake of ginger and garlic lowers cholesterol and also reduces triglyceride level
  • Have a glass of Ghia juice in the morning, empty stomach.

  • Add dhania seeds to your diet as they have cholesterol lowering effect.
  • Make a paste of 2 tablespoon of honey and 3 teaspoons of cinnamon powder, use it as a bread and chapatti spread in breakfast
  • Carrots in salads are good for preventing cholesterol
  • Sunflower seeds and Mustard seeds are rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids
  • Walnuts are good for lowering cholesterol.
  • Pomegranate and apples are recommended for lowering cholesterol levels
  • Flaxseeds ( alsi) is good source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Roast flaxseeds and add to your salads or make a fine powder & keep in refrigerator, add to your vegetable juice or milk or chappati.
  • Eat Oatmeal everyday. Oat meal is high in fiber , but oat bran is more concentrated     source of fiber than whole oats.
  • Easiest way to lower cholesterol is to consume fiber rich foods. Unrefined grains like dalia, whole wheat flour, wheat puffs, brown rice, jowar, bajra are rich in fiber. Wheat bran has fiber content of about 50{0464a978eaa6751d2a93f6c4ad1c51189cfd13358038c899daee6b3ddce22d84}.
  • Green tea helps in lowering LDL and increasing HDL
  • Eat half onion as a part of salad with each meal. This helps to keep the blood thin.
  • Eat 1 lasuna and 1 shudh guggal ( HIMALAYA) capsule after meals everyday.
  • Surya mudra: Bend the ring fingers of both the hands and touch the middle of the thumb with the finger tips. This mudra helps the body to control high levels of cholesterol

Don’t

  • Do not consume butter, ghee, Margarine, excess oils.
  • Keep away from biscuits, croissants , cakes, Pastries etc
  • Jellies, Jams, preserves, cream cheese, cottage cheese.
  • Meats like Beef, pork, lamb are high in fat.
  • Avoid sweet deserts, chocolates, dry fruits, Carbonated drinks, fried snacks like samosa, vada pav, pakoda, bhatura, puri etc
  • Avoid Egg yolk.
